Friday 18th june 2010.
Yeserday went very well, was able to repair the broken church notice board so it should giv e yet many more years cervice, then went to the organ recital at "All Saints" which was exquisitely performed by an American composer and player, the theme of this years perfomances is entitled"Queen of instruments"a title I willgladly aceede to, closely followed by the violin as my other favourite musical instrument. shall make efforts to go to as many recitals as possible, the Seafood restaurant was good, but i felt slightly overpriced so not on my favourite list of feeding troughs? Again I thought the town looked very good as I perused the centre, and once more set me wondering what makes the whingers moan and groan, but there I suppose every town has its share of people with their often imagined disgruntled reasons, so just have to take them on and try and peruade them of their ignorant and foolish ideas are without foundation, no where is perfect, but our town in my estimation is up there amongst the best. a bit of cooking today, and I trust the sun which at moment of writing is hiding itself will come out? and then spend the afternoon outside planning my new project which I trust will commence tomorrow, God willing. tatty bye PtP

  1. Once more you have used your time in service and recreation P. Well done.
The town does have a lot to offer, I agree - but can also see some of the 'other side' spending of public funds. Our pavements are broken and dangerous, the council send two men to sit and ponder - break up and remove perfectly level and whole slabs, replace them with tarmac which allows weeds to grow through, say they are only paid to do a job - even if it is obvious it doesn't need doing and is a mistake, - and yes the lady at the other end of the phone was lovely and understanding of horror and concern but it still continues... People such as yourself and us - try to support and appreciate the difficult job of overseeing and are public spirited enough to take care of our own piece of pavement or park litter, but - and isn't there always a 'but' with moaners?, I can see the other side of the coin too. Your letters to the local paper are good, we almost always agree.
Maybe a different pot of money and maybe we have a 'spoilt' generation who think everything should come on a plate and they are not responsible nor respectful...? I think maybe it is this attitude which has in part been allowed to develop. We were part of a waste not, want not, generation. Youth Groups, the Scouting and Guiding organizations still advocate these priciples.
Pavements used to be for walking not parking or dumping skips on, roads for driving or cycling, not parking lots. Once decent areas are going downhill with the attitude of "its not me - I pay you to deal with it"
This is why, I believe, there is a public outcry when something big and expensive is put into place. Smart conservatory - shame about the living quarters!
Oh, I am a grumpy old woman! lol
