Sunday January 31st 2010

This is my first attempt at blogging, after much encouragement from family and particuarly my sister in law, who lives in Melbourne Australia, with her husband, who I keep in touch with in a
fairly constant basis, weekly in the least, who I hold responsible for whatever happens in the future, with my attempts to blog, but seriously owe much to for her faithful encouragement and friendship.I am very fortunate with our relationship.
I am 75 years young, long since retired from my daily occupation which was an engineer with one of the worlds largest Automobile bearing manafacturers, I live in a small cottage type bungalow
with my wife of 53 years Whow.- did that go by quickly where did those years go? who sadly now is handicapped with among other things Athritis, so I guess I can be classed as a Housewife and carer, which I also enjoy , but wish she were mobile for her own sake. we have two married daughters who have provided us with four grand children two girls and two boys. who in turn have extended the family by Seven great grandchildren. so we must have done something right somewhere along the line
Both my wife and I are believing, practicing born again Christians, sadly my wife is now very restricted in her attendance at our "chosen" fellowship, which I can best describe as pentecostal Baptist,
This takes up quite a large part of both our lives, mine at the Church, while she supports both self and the fellowship from our home.
I am a very keen follower of sport in general, with football, cricket, motor cycle racing and formula 1 racing being my first great loves, although I now no longer go to see, on a regular basis only very occasionally. I also swim reasonable well, and was until a few years ago an ardent long distant walker, with many of this countries established routes under my belt with a smattering of mountain tops also that I have managed over the years, sadly now in the fading past, but not forgotten and have met many wonderful and interesting people, who enriched my life even if only in passing or at overnight stays in many a youth hostel, a time I am so glad that I managed to achieve. most of which I did alone, greatly encouraged and supported by my wife who could not accompany me, but always pushed me for which I was and am very thankful to and for, I enjoy Music, of most kinds but not the really heavy stuff of youth. TV, and gardening reading, Historical novels which we both enjoy and share. I also enjoy cooking, for self and wife and helping at my Church fellowships evening events, and talking which I think I am good at BUT, others more often will have differing opinions ( laugh) but there you cant win them all can you. must finish for now as it is time for getting our tea come supper. bye for now Phil the Pom.
